EXPLORE the heart of australia

East Macdonnell Ranges – Premier Campground

There are heaps of great attractions nearby.

Arltunga Bush Pub and Eco Retreat is the perfect place to base yourself to explore what the amazing East MacDonnell Range has to offer. Immerse yourself in pioneering history, visit Ruby Gorge, explore outback Australia, and try your luck at gold fossicking.

Declared a Historical Reserve in 1977, Arltunga is an important part of Australia’s heritage. Ongoing conservation work preserves the incredible historical sites, providing insight into pioneer life on a turn-of-the-century goldfield.

Arltunga Historical Reserve

Established in 1887, Arltunga was Central Australia’s first town and home to 300 people at the height of the goldrush. Explore the Government Battery, Cyanide Works, Old Police Station, historical mine-sites and heritage homes, along with a visitor’s centre where you may meet and chat with the Ranger.

Ruby Gorge Nature Park

Ruby Gorge is a remote, natural wilderness and is one of the NT’s most rewarding experiences. A further walk into Glenn Annie Gorge is a must. Beautiful and rugged, the awesome terrain is not to be underestimated, and the unmarked trails are only for experienced walkers.
